Agile ERP deployment
Historically, many ERP implementations fail not because of the software, or the knowledge of the implementation team or the desire of the business community. They fail because the implementation uses the 'big bang' approach. Nothing is released for review or comment until everything is completed. If there are issues it can be too late to address them (or to costly to). By using the Agile approach, there is constant and regular disclosure and feedback to ensure that all objectives are met, or if all objectives cannot be met in the prescribed time frame, the objectives are appropriately prioritized.
Crucial to the success of any implementation is communication. Thanks to the populariity of Agile Software Development, there a many tools fromt his world that can help in agile communication and scheduling processes.
SolTech's approach to ERP implementation will typically begin with a Value Asessment that takes approx 3 weeks. This excercise will expose core processes, suggest improvements, and will deliver both TCO and ROI assessments that gives the clients a clear view of costs, time, level of effort, return and sample workflows that help vizualization of the resulting system.
From that point, we work on problem areas addressed in decreasing levels of importance, in an iterative manner until implementation is complete. Each cycle of deployment includes its own set of actions and deliverables.
By avoiding a "big bang" approach, risk is spread, and incremental value ifs achieved in a relatively short space of time.
